The Prairie Hill Landfill is conveniently located just south of town on Highway 183. Residents may drop off tree branches and other yard waste without cost; there is a modest fee for other types of materials. Hazardous materials such as paint, waste oil, batteries, pesticides and the like can be left at the facility’s hazardous waste center. Call for details.

Mid-Nebraska Individual Services (MNIS) began operating the Holdrege Area Recycling Center in 2002. In addition to providing services to individuals with developmental disabilities, MNIS meets the recycling needs of Holdrege and the surrounding areas. MNIS Recycling accepts aluminum, tin, newspaper, magazines, office paper, plastic, and cardboard. The drive-thru is located next door to the Prairie Hill Landfill. In addition, drop off trailers are available at Holdrege Market Place, 14th and Burlington Street and the City Parking Lot at 4th and Grant.
