Airport Zoning Board
The Joint City-County Airport Zoning Board acts to protect and enforce regulations established by the Nebraska Department of Transportation, Aeronautics Division, within the airport’s ten-mile jurisdiction. The board consists of two members appointed by each political subdivision participating in its creation as members thereof for a four-year term and a chairperson selected by a majority of those members appointed. Meetings are held in the Council Chambers of City Hall by agenda demand and are governed by the Open Meetings Act.

Board of Adjustment
This board receives and acts on applications for variances. Meetings are held at 5:00 p.m. on the first and third Tuesdays in the Council Chambers of City Hall by agenda demand. Members are appointed to three-year terms by the Mayor with City Council approval. Four members are a quorum. One member of the Board of Adjustment must also be a member of the Planning Commission. Meetings are held in the Council Chambers of City Hall by agenda demand and are governed by the Open Meetings Act.

Electrical Board

This two-member board reviews applications from individuals wanting to become licensed electricians in Holdrege. There is no set meeting time. Board members must be licensed electricians. Members are appointed to two-year terms by the Mayor with City Council approval.

Health Board
The Board inspects premises and businesses as the Governing Body may direct. Meetings are held as necessary to review complaints to safeguard the health of residents of the community. The Mayor, Council President, and Police Chief represent the City, with two members from the community appointed to a one-year term by the Mayor with City Council approval. Meetings are held in the Council Chambers of City Hall by agenda demand and are governed by the Open Meetings Act.

Police Retirement Board
Board Members
This board meets once a year to review the retirement of the police officers. Members include two elected by police officers, the City Administrator, a Council Member, and two members from the community appointed by the Mayor with Council approval. Terms are for four years.

Tree Board
Board Members
The Tree Board is responsible for planning the growth and development of City parks and establishes regulations regarding the planting of trees and tree types. Board members implement the Memorial Tree Program and plan Arbor Day activities as part of the process for Holdrege to receive the “Tree City USA” designation each year. Members are appointed to three-year terms by the Mayor with Council approval. Meetings are held at noon on the third Monday of each month in the Ancillary Meeting Room of City Hall and are governed by the Open Meetings Act.

Library Board
Board Members
Transacts the business of the Library and has the authority to appoint the library director. Five members represent the City and an equal number represent Phelps County. Meetings are held in the library’s meeting room and are governed by the Open Meetings Act.
